Apple Retakes Crown as World’s Most Valuable Company at $5.03 Trillion
Apple has once again dethroned Nvidia as the world’s most valuable publicly traded company. At the close of trading on October 30, 2026, Apple had a market capitalization of $5.03 trillion—about $100 billion ahead of Nvidia’s $4.93 trillion valuation.
The shift came amid a turbulent day for technology stocks. Growing investor concerns about the scale of AI infrastructure spending sent Nvidia shares tumbling 4.2%.
Apple shares fell 1.2% to $344.63 but held firm enough to claim the top spot. The iPhone maker has been a standout performer in 2026, with its stock climbing 27% year to date—more than twice Nvidia’s gains over the same period.
Analysts credit Apple’s relatively restrained AI capital expenditure strategy, along with steady revenue from consumer hardware and services, as stabilizing factors amid broader market volatility.
Apple first surpassed a $4 trillion valuation in October 2025 and crossed the $5 trillion threshold in July 2026. CEO John Ternus, who recently succeeded Tim Cook, has kept Apple on a cautious but profitable AI course, attracting investors seeking a safer harbor from the volatile AI-chip trade.
As Bloomberg noted, the two tech titans—both hovering near the $5 trillion mark—could easily swap positions again as market conditions evolve.
