IndiGo Airlines Transitions Operations to Newly Inaugurated Terminal at Tuticorin Airport
IndiGo Airlines, India’s largest airline, has officially relocated all flight operations to the newly inaugurated terminal building at Tuticorin Airport (TCR) as of August 3, 2025. This shift signifies a substantial infrastructure enhancement for the regional airport located in southern Tamil Nadu.
The modern terminal building, spanning 17,340 square meters, is equipped to accommodate 2 million passengers annually. The state-of-the-art amenities include advanced check-in counters, upgraded baggage systems, energy-efficient lighting, and dedicated arrival and departure zones. The terminal, recently inaugurated by India’s Prime Minister, is now fully operational for domestic traffic.
As stated in a travel advisory by the airline, “Effective August 3, all IndiGo flights to/from Tuticorin will operate from the New Terminal Building, offering a refreshed and enhanced airport experience.” IndiGo has urged passengers to update their contact details to receive real-time flight alerts and minimize travel disruptions.
The terminal upgrade aligns with IndiGo’s robust Q1 FY26 financial performance. Despite industry challenges, the airline reported a consolidated net profit of ₹2,176 crore. Over the quarter, the airline transported more than 31 million passengers, reflecting a 12% year-on-year growth.
