Nvidia’s $1.5B Investment: Building Its Largest Lab Outside the US in Israel

AI chip giant, Nvidia, is gearing up to establish its most extensive laboratory and server farm outside the United States, right in Israel. The project involves a staggering investment of approximately $1.5 billion. As reported by the Israeli business publication, Calcalist, Nvidia is in the final stages of negotiations with the local real estate firm, Mega Or DC. The plan is to lease a data center currently under construction at the Mevo Carmel Science and Industry Park near Yokneam, in northern Israel.

The upcoming facility will span around 30,000 square meters (almost 323,000 square feet) and will demand approximately 64 megawatts of electricity. This is enough power to sustain nearly 50,000 homes. The center will be equipped with Nvidia’s state-of-the-art Blackwell processors and a next-generation supercomputer. The project will be located next to Nvidia’s existing server farm in the Mevo Carmel zone. It will enhance the company’s Israel-1 supercomputer, which is already listed among the world’s 50 most potent.

Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, has previously referred to Israel as the company’s “second home.” Today, Israel is Nvidia’s second-largest global R&D hub, employing over 5,000 workers. The construction is set to commence in 2027, with the facility expected to be operational by 2031. This investment further solidifies Israel’s position as a vital global AI computing hub. It also marks another milestone in Nvidia’s ongoing global infrastructure expansion, which reported $96.2 billion in revenue in its most recent quarter.
