Waymo Targets $15B Funding Round at a $110B Valuation — An Update

Waymo, Alphabet’s autonomous vehicle unit, is making strides in one of the most audacious fundraising efforts in the self-driving car industry. Reports confirm that the company is targeting a new funding round of around $15–$16 billion, potentially valuing it at a staggering $110 billion. This round, spearheaded by parent company Alphabet, is set to more than double Waymo’s previous valuation of $45 billion as of October 2024.

According to a report by Seeking Alpha on October 21, 2026, the deal is progressing, with Alphabet expected to contribute approximately $13 billion of the total raise. The round is reportedly attracting new investors, including Sequoia Capital, Dragoneer Investment Group, and DST Global, who will join existing backers Andreessen Horowitz and Mubadala Capital, the asset management division of Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund.

This significant capital influx is poised to expedite Waymo’s ambitious expansion plans. The company, having already completed over 20 million driverless trips, is testing vehicles in eight U.S. cities and has plans to launch service in 11 more markets, including Detroit, Washington D.C., Dallas, and Las Vegas. Sundar Pichai, Alphabet’s CEO, has indicated that Waymo is expected to “meaningfully” contribute to Alphabet’s financials by 2027, highlighting the strategic significance of this latest funding initiative to investors and the wider autonomous mobility industry.
