SpaceX Shatters Q3 Predictions as AI Division Achieves $7.56B Revenue

Elon Musk’s SpaceX outperformed all expectations in the third quarter, revealing a revenue of $14.58 billion on October 20, 2026. This figure represents a 161% year-over-year increase, significantly surpassing Wall Street’s consensus estimate of $12.72 billion. The company transitioned to a net profit of $4.4 billion, a stark contrast to the net loss of $1.05 billion reported in the same period the previous year, and far beyond the $1.57 billion analysts had predicted.

The standout performer was SpaceX’s AI division, recently rebranded as “Super Intelligence”. This division generated $7.56 billion in revenue, a ninefold increase from the $813 million reported in Q3 2025, making it the company’s largest business segment. The AI unit, powered by renting out extensive computing capacity to clients such as Google and Anthropic, also reported its first profit of $431 million. Meanwhile, SpaceX’s Starlink connectivity unit continued to be the profit engine, with operating income nearly doubling to $2.37 billion on approximately $5.2 billion in revenue.

The impressive results led to a roughly 5% increase in SpaceX shares in after-hours trading. During the earnings call, CEO Elon Musk made another significant announcement: both SpaceX and Tesla have formed special board committees to discuss a potential merger between the two companies, suggesting that such a deal could be a “good idea.”
