American Airlines Increases Admirals Club Membership Fees by Up to 75%
As of August 23, 2026, American Airlines has implemented a significant revamp of the Admirals Club lounge membership pricing. This has resulted in a sharp increase in the standard full membership cost, which was previously $850 annually for general AAdvantage members, and has now soared to $1,400 per year. This represents a hefty 65–75% increase, depending on the member’s elite status. Executive Platinum members will now be required to pay $1,200 for the same tier.
Simultaneously, the airline has launched a new solo membership option at $750. This provides access to almost 50 Admirals Club locations, but does not include guest privileges or entry to partner lounges worldwide. The household memberships have been completely phased out.
The cost of one-day lounge passes remains at $79. This restructuring seems to be a strategic move to encourage travelers to opt for the Citi / AAdvantage Executive Mastercard. Despite its annual fee also rising to $695, it still includes a full Admirals Club membership with guest access, making the credit card a more attractive option in the new pricing structure.
American Airlines has assured customers of enhanced food, service, and facilities at its lounges. It has recently launched a new grab-and-go concept, Provisions by Admirals Club, in Charlotte, with plans to open a location in New York JFK. Industry experts have observed that this move aligns with the premium lounge pricing strategies already in place at Delta Air Lines and United Airlines.
