American Airlines Set to Substantially Increase Admirals Club Fees

Frequent flyers, brace yourselves: American Airlines is set to dramatically overhaul its Admirals Club lounge membership pricing, effective August 23, 2026. The airline is raising the annual standard membership fee from $850 to $1,400 for general members — a hike of up to 75%. This is the biggest pricing change to the program since November 2019.

The restructured program introduces two tiers:

  • Standard Membership at $1,400/year: This includes access to nearly 50 Admirals Club locations and over 60 partner lounges, plus complimentary guest entry.
  • Solo Membership at $750/year: This covers the cardholder only and limits access to Admirals Club locations exclusively — no guests, no partner lounges.

Household memberships are being discontinued entirely.

AAdvantage elite members receive slight discounts, with Executive Platinum flyers paying $1,200 for the full tier. One bright spot: one-day passes remain at $79. American is also raising the annual fee on its Citi / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard® from $595 to $695 — though the card still includes a full Admirals Club membership, making it a compelling value alternative to a standalone subscription. Travelers who want to lock in current pricing must act before August 23.
