Deoleo’s Stock Skyrockets Over 20% Following Dcoop’s €470M Acquisition Proposal

Shares in Deoleo, the world’s largest olive oil bottler and marketer, known for brands such as Bertolli and Carbonell, soared over 20% on Wednesday. This surge, which marked a new 52-week high, followed the news that Spanish agri-food cooperative Dcoop has proposed a €470 million ($545 million) acquisition of the company. This offer puts Dcoop ahead in a rapidly evolving takeover race involving several international competitors.

As reported by Spain’s El Economista, the sale is in its final phase, with the deal expected to close as early as September 2026. Dcoop is up against tough competition from Italian firms Coricelli, Bonifiche Ferraresi, and Newlat Food, French company Lesieur (a subsidiary of Avril), and Australia’s Cobram Estate Olive.

If the deal goes through, it would further solidify Spain’s dominance in the global olive oil sector by creating a new industry behemoth with an estimated 15% share of domestic consumption. Deoleo ended its 2025 fiscal year with a 50% rise in EBITDA to €50 million and a net profit of €20 million. This robust financial performance has sparked significant international interest. However, no formal agreement has been signed yet, and Deoleo has refrained from commenting publicly on the reports.
