Apple’s Ambitious Launch: Five New iPhones Including a $2,500 Foldable Model
Apple (AAPL) is preparing for its most ambitious iPhone launch cycle in years. A detailed supply chain report from Nikkei Asia reveals that the tech giant plans to release at least five new iPhone models between the second half of 2026 and the first half of 2027. This marks a significant departure from its traditional single-wave September launch strategy.
The star of the lineup is Apple’s highly anticipated first-ever foldable iPhone, rumored to bear the “Ultra” branding and a starting price of around $2,500. This innovative device is expected to feature a book-style design with a 7.7-inch inner display and is targeted for a September 2026 announcement. Apple has already increased its production target for the foldable to 10 million units in 2026, up from an earlier estimate of 7–8 million. This is a clear sign of growing internal confidence in consumer demand.
The broader launch slate includes the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip built on a 2nm process. Additionally, a new iPhone Air model is slated for a spring 2027 release. Apple has reportedly secured components for approximately 80 million new iPhones for its H2 2026 releases, with total 2026 production expected to exceed 220 million units. Following the report, Apple shares surged 4.8%.
