South Carolina Plane Crash: Beechcraft BE55 Down, Two Pilots Injured
A twin-engine Beechcraft BE55, registered to Pressley Aviation in North Carolina, crashed and caught fire in the early hours of Thursday, July 2. The incident occurred in a heavily wooded area near Lancaster, South Carolina. The crash was reported around 1:45 a.m. behind a metal recycling plant on Brooklyn Avenue.
According to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, the aircraft crashed through trees before coming to rest on a hillside and catching fire. The pilot reportedly declared engine failure before the crash. Both male occupants — believed to be pilots — were found near the wreckage suffering from serious burns but were still responsive when first responders arrived. They were airlifted to burn centers for treatment.
Flight records confirmed the aircraft departed from Poplarville-Pearl River County Airport in Mississippi and was en route to Stanly County Airport in Albemarle, North Carolina. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the incident. No cause has been officially determined at this time.
