Fourth Front Aviation Broadens Its Reach Nationally with Acquisition in Colorado Springs

California-based aircraft maintenance and avionics specialist, Fourth Front Aviation, has recently made a significant stride in its expansion strategy. The company has announced the acquisition of D&J Aviation, a renowned FAA Part 145-certified repair station based at Colorado Springs Municipal Airport (KCOS). This acquisition marks a significant milestone in Fourth Front Aviation’s strategy to establish a national aviation services network.

The operation, now rebranded as Fourth Front Aviation Colorado, complements the company’s original flagship location at Santa Monica Airport (KSMO) in California. The facility in Colorado Springs brings with it decades of expertise in avionics, specialized sensor and radio system integration, and maintenance across piston, turboprop, and light jet aircraft.

Furthermore, the acquisition also adds Garmin, Avidyne, and Aspen dealerships to Fourth Front’s portfolio. It also enhances their support capabilities for wildfire air attack operations and government agency missions.

D&J Aviation, built over several decades by founder Jim Schwab, will continue to operate under the Fourth Front banner. All existing leadership and mechanics will remain. According to Co-founder Tom Schaefer, this deal strategically positions the company to serve “aircraft owners, operators, government agencies and mission-focused organisations across the Rocky Mountain region”. This is made possible by maintaining consistent standards and technical expertise across multiple locations.
