Apple’s Groundbreaking ‘Siri AI’ Revealed at WWDC 2026
On June 8, Apple launched its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026, marking the most significant AI overhaul in the company’s history. The spotlight was on Siri AI, a completely reimagined version of its voice assistant. This new iteration, powered by a novel Apple Intelligence architecture and developed in partnership with Google’s Gemini models, is equipped to manage multi-step tasks, maintain conversational context, and access in-depth personal data from user’s messages, emails, photos, and on-screen content.
Set to debut as a standalone chatbot app, Siri AI will reside directly within the Dynamic Island on iPhones. In a groundbreaking move, users will have the option to select third-party AI models, such as Google Gemini, Anthropic’s Claude, and OpenAI’s ChatGPT, to power Siri and other applications in iOS 27. Alongside this, Apple announced comprehensive OS updates across iOS 27, macOS 27 (Golden Gate), iPadOS 27, watchOS 27, and visionOS 27. A developer beta was launched immediately after the keynote, with public betas anticipated in July and final releases set to arrive this fall, coinciding with new hardware launches.
Adding a touch of emotion to the event, CEO Tim Cook took the opportunity to bid farewell to developers during the keynote. Cook is scheduled to step down on September 1, passing the baton to Senior VP of Hardware Engineering, John Ternus. It’s worth noting that due to regulatory challenges, Siri AI will not be available in Europe or China at launch.
