Arcline Investment Acquires Continental Aerospace in a $535M Deal
In a landmark transaction for the general aviation industry, Arcline Investment Management has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Continental Aerospace Technologies for approximately $535 million. This acquisition marks the end of roughly 15 years of ownership by China’s state-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC).
Continental, founded in 1905 and headquartered in Mobile, Alabama, is a revered piston engine manufacturer in the general aviation industry. Its powerplants have powered tens of thousands of aircraft across the global GA fleet, including popular models like:
- The Bonanza
- Cessna 210
- Cirrus SR20
- Piper PA-34
The company built its first aircraft engine back in 1929 and has remained a cornerstone of the industry ever since.
Arcline, a U.S.-based private equity firm managing assets exceeding $30 billion, has a portfolio focused on aerospace and defense technology. They described Continental as “a highly respected platform with a long history of engineering leadership” and plan to support continued investment in product development and manufacturing capabilities. The deal is subject to customary regulatory approvals.
Industry analysts are hailing this as one of the most significant transactions in the general aviation sector in recent years. This is particularly true given the current geopolitical focus on resilient domestic aerospace supply chains.
