Lenovo’s AI Revenue Skyrockets by 84%, Leading to Record Earnings
Lenovo unveiled record-breaking fourth-quarter results on May 22, causing shares to surge nearly 20%. The announcement highlighted that AI-related revenue had jumped a staggering 84% year-over-year, accounting for 38% of the total group revenue. The Chinese technology giant reported a quarterly revenue of $21.6 billion, an increase of 27% year-on-year, marking its highest growth rate in five years.
Net income saw a nearly six-fold increase, reaching $521 million in the March quarter, while full-year revenue hit a record $83.1 billion. The standout performance was largely driven by robust demand across Lenovo’s AI-powered product portfolio. This includes PCs and smartphones with neural processing units, servers with graphics processing units, and related services.
The Hong Kong-based company’s Infrastructure Solutions Group returned to full-year profitability. Meanwhile, its Intelligent Devices Group posted its strongest PC market share on record at 24.4% globally in the fourth quarter. Premium PC shipments, which include AI-capable laptops and desktops with dedicated neural processing units, accounted for 50% of total PC sales. These premium units saw a 29% increase year-over-year.
Chairman and CEO Yuanqing Yang expressed Lenovo’s ambition to become a $100 billion company within the next two years. The growth strategy is heavily reliant on its “Hybrid AI” approach, which encompasses both personal AI across devices and enterprise AI solutions. The company’s market capitalization currently stands at approximately $24 billion.
The results clearly demonstrate Lenovo’s ability to navigate supply shortages and rising component costs through operational excellence and premium product mix management. AI-related revenue doubled for the full fiscal year, positioning the company as a significant beneficiary of the accelerating AI hardware boom.
