Steady Performance of Business Aircraft Market in Q1 2026 Despite Prevailing Uncertainties
The business aircraft market demonstrated a robust health through the first quarter of 2026. According to the International Aircraft Dealers Association (IADA), there were 333 completed transactions, marking an increase from 316 in the same period last year. The report, released on April 28, 2026, highlights a continued demand that outpaces the limited supply across most aircraft categories.
“The business aviation market remains fundamentally healthy, demand continues to outpace supply, values are holding firm, and buyer interest remains broad,” said John Odegard, IADA chair and co-founder of 5X5 Trading. However, he noted that “a growing undercurrent of geopolitical and macroeconomic uncertainty is tempering enthusiasm somewhat heading into mid-2026.”
Inventory remained historically tight, particularly for newer, well-maintained models with clean maintenance histories. These premium aircraft continue to command strong pricing with minimal negotiation flexibility. The report indicated that buyers are adopting more measured approaches to purchasing decisions compared to the frenzied activity of recent years.
New acquisition agreements increased from 134 to 167 year-over-year, while failed transactions rose from 37 to 49. Despite the increase in collapsed deals, pricing reductions actually decreased, with only 26 listings lowering prices in Q1 2026 compared to 43 in the prior year period.
- Dealers cited 100% bonus depreciation as part of recent U.S. tax legislation as a key driver boosting demand.
- Strong stock market performance offsetting concerns about supply chains, tariffs, and international conflicts also contributed to the demand.
