Sweden Boosts Global Connectivity with New Flight Routes Including Mallorca, Shanghai, and Tirana
Sweden is poised to significantly enhance its international connectivity with the launch of several new direct flight routes. These routes, set to commence between May and December 2026, were announced on April 24. Major carriers such as Norwegian Airlines and SAS will operate these new connections, linking Sweden’s key airports with sought-after destinations across Europe and Asia.
Norwegian Airlines is set to launch service from Stockholm Arlanda to Milano Malpensa starting May 13, 2026, operating four times weekly. Additionally, the airline will introduce a weekly route from Göteborg Landvetter Airport to Tirana, the capital of Albania, beginning June 19, 2026. These additions signify a substantial expansion of Sweden’s connection to Southern Europe and the Balkans.
The newly announced routes aim to link Sweden with cities across Europe, Asia, and beyond, thereby adding substantial value to the country’s tourism and business sectors. All new services have been officially confirmed through announcements from Swedavia, the Swedish airport operator, and official airline releases.
According to official announcements, “The routes will depart from Stockholm Arlanda, Göteborg Landvetter, and Visby Airport, offering travelers an array of fresh destinations.” The expansion includes connections to destinations ranging from sun-kissed Mediterranean beaches to bustling Asian business hubs, making Sweden more globally connected than ever before.
