Lockheed Martin Lands $4.7B Contract for Accelerated Patriot Missile Production

Lockheed Martin announced on Friday that it has been awarded a $4.7 billion contract by the U.S. government. This contract is aimed at accelerating the production of Patriot Advanced Capability-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (PAC-3 MSE) interceptors, in response to the increasing global demand amidst escalating geopolitical tensions.

The contract, set to run until June 2030, comes on the heels of a seven-year framework agreement with the Department of Defense. This agreement aims to more than triple the annual PAC-3 MSE production capacity to 2,000 missiles per year by the end of 2030. The award enables Lockheed to secure long-lead components and expand manufacturing infrastructure across 15 U.S. locations.

Approximately 94% of the contract value is funded through Foreign Military Sales, reflecting the strong international demand for this advanced air defense system. Recent approvals include a potential $9 billion sale to Saudi Arabia involving 730 PAC-3 MSE interceptors. The missiles are currently deployed in 17 countries and serve as a critical defense against ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and aircraft.

“PAC-3 MSE’s recent combat performance solidified it as a must-have capability for America and its allies around the world,” said Jason Reynolds, vice president of Integrated Air and Missile Defense at Lockheed Martin. Supplies have been strained following heavy use defending against Iranian strikes in the Gulf region and supporting Ukraine’s defense infrastructure.

In 2025, Lockheed delivered 620 PAC-3 MSE interceptors, marking a 20% increase over the previous year. The new contract represents a significant stride in the company’s efforts to meet the escalating global demand for missile defense systems.
