Apple Unveils Its First-Ever Touchscreen MacBook Pro
Apple has crossed a technological threshold it once scoffed at, launching its first-ever touchscreen laptop: the all-new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR display. Unveiled at the company’s “Pro and Tell” event in Los Angeles on October 28, 2026, the new MacBook Pro comes in 14-inch and 16-inch configurations, powered by Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max chips.
The new display technology, called PROLED XDR, replaces Mini-LED as Apple’s premier laptop display. It combines tandem OLED with advanced calibration algorithms for exceptional brightness and contrast. Apple also designed a stabilized hinge to help prevent screen wobble during touch input. In macOS, touch gestures are automatically translated into clicks, making existing apps compatible from day one.
Both models are thinner and lighter than their predecessors and offer up to 24 hours of battery life:
- 14-inch: 3.0 pounds (1.38 kg); starts at $2,899
- 16-inch: 4.0 pounds (1.82 kg); starts at $3,399
Preorders are available now, with devices set to ship beginning November 6, 2026.
