Valentino Beauty Unveils $600 Couture Cushion in Shanghai—Limited to 100 Pieces

Valentino Beauty, owned by beauty giant L’Oréal, is making a major push into China’s luxury beauty market with the launch of its first-ever Haute Beauté product: the limited-edition Haute Beauté Go-Cushion Glow.

The ultra-exclusive collector’s item is available only at the brand’s renovated flagship boutique in Shanghai’s Xintiandi district. Just 100 numbered pieces have been made worldwide.

Each compact is a true objet d’art. Its lid is hand-embroidered in Valentino’s couture ateliers with a celestial motif, using gold threads, beads, sequins, and spangles on purple velvet. The intricate process takes approximately 10 hours per piece.

  • Price: 4,000 yuan (approximately $600 USD)
  • Availability: Valentino’s renovated flagship boutique in Shanghai’s Xintiandi district
  • Edition: 100 numbered pieces worldwide

The launch celebrates the renovation of Valentino’s Shanghai store and marks the brand’s first entry into the Haute Beauté category. It also echoes the fashion house’s storied status as the first Italian maison invited to show haute couture in Paris.

The timing is strategic. Valentino’s Go-Cushion Glow has already climbed to sixth place in China’s year-to-date cushion foundation rankings, up four spots from the previous year. The global cushion foundation market was valued at $1.45 billion last year, with the Asia-Pacific region accounting for 55% of that total.

Claudia Marcocci, who leads Valentino Beauty at L’Oréal, has said that China and makeup are central to the brand’s next chapter of growth.
