Apple’s ‘Welcome Home’ Event: The Launch of ‘HomeView’ Smart Hub
On October 13, 2026, Apple officially hosted its eagerly-awaited ‘Welcome Home’ event in Tribeca, New York City. This exclusive, in-person media experience was not publicly livestreamed. The event marked the debut of a new range of smart home hardware, positioning Apple as a potential leader in the connected home market.
The highlight of the event was the unveiling of HomeView, Apple’s premier dedicated smart home display. This device boasts a 6-inch square touchscreen perched on a half-dome speaker base with a metal arm. It is powered by Apple’s A18 chip and comes with 8GB of RAM.
HomeView is available in two versions: a countertop model in space gray, silver, starlight, and pink, and a wall-mounted edition in space gray and silver. This device serves as a Siri AI-powered command center for smart home accessories, running a select set of Apple apps without an App Store. Shipping is expected to commence around mid-November.
Alongside HomeView, Apple is also set to announce an updated Apple TV 4K and a revamped HomePod mini 2. Both products are expected to ship on October 30. This launch poses a direct challenge to Amazon’s Echo and Google Nest lineups in the fiercely competitive smart home market.
