Anthropic Unveils Affordable Claude Haiku 5.5 Ahead of Anticipated IPO
AI safety pioneer, Anthropic, has launched Claude Haiku 5.5, the latest addition to their model family. This cost-effective, small model arrives just weeks before the company’s highly anticipated initial public offering (IPO).
Debuted on October 7, 2026, Haiku 5.5 is engineered for high-volume, cost-sensitive enterprise tasks. These tasks include classification, summarization, data extraction, customer support, and AI subagent workflows. The model boasts a 1 million token context window and supports up to 128K output tokens.
Anthropic has set the price for Haiku 5.5 at a mere $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens for requests under 100,000 tokens. This pricing is about 75% less expensive than its predecessor, Haiku 4.5. Additionally, the model introduces adjustable effort controls and scored 72.4% on OSWorld 2.1 benchmarks for computer use tasks.
Haiku 5.5 is now available on Anthropic’s platform, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. This launch completes the Claude 5.5 series, following the earlier releases of Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5. Along with this release, Anthropic has also reduced the cache-read price for Sonnet 5.5 to $0.10 per million tokens. Reports indicate that Anthropic’s IPO could value the company at over $2 trillion.
