Microsoft and NVIDIA Present AI-Driven PCs at the Recent Surface Event

On October 7, 2026, Microsoft hosted one of its most impactful hardware events in over two years. The live showcase, held in San Francisco, presented a daring vision for the future of personal computing. The event revolved around the theme “how local AI will shape the next chapter of the PC”. It marked a historic moment as Satya Nadella, Microsoft CEO, Pavan Davuluri, Windows and Surface chief, and Jensen Huang, NVIDIA CEO, shared the stage for the first time.

The spotlight was on the Surface Laptop Ultra and NVIDIA RTX Spark hardware platform. Both are designed to run demanding AI models directly on-device, eliminating the need for cloud connectivity. NVIDIA announced that the first RTX Spark Windows PCs will be available this month, coinciding with the event. OEM partners such as Dell, Lenovo, and Asus are anticipated to join in subsequent announcements, indicating a widespread industry adoption of the new local-AI PC standard.

Microsoft also unveiled Project Zenith, a new category of developer-centric devices aimed at crafting local AI experiences. The company clarified that this was not a Windows 12 launch, but a significant stride towards AI-first computing for both everyday users and professionals.
