Experience Virtual Clothing Try-On with ChatGPT

OpenAI has ventured into the realm of online fashion retail, unveiling a revolutionary virtual clothing try-on feature within ChatGPT. Launched on October 1, 2026, this feature allows users to upload a selfie or a full-body photo and instantly visualize how clothing or accessories from ChatGPT’s shopping results would look on them. This innovative feature is powered by the latest ChatGPT Images 2.5 model.

A new “Try On” button is now prominently displayed within ChatGPT’s shopping results, enabling users to visualize potential outfits before making a purchase. Users can also upload screenshots of items from other websites and ask ChatGPT to superimpose those garments onto their photo. Furthermore, ChatGPT can now find pieces to complete a described style or match items worn by celebrities in uploaded images.

In addition to the try-on feature, OpenAI is introducing a Favorites system. This system allows shoppers to save products they discover to a dedicated library within the app. Saved items appear alongside their try-on images for easy comparison. The new ChatGPT Images 2.5 model powering both features promises more natural lighting, richer textures, more reliable instruction-following, and reduced image generation latency. However, OpenAI advises that the AI-generated previews are visual aids only and cannot guarantee actual fit or sizing. With this launch, ChatGPT is now a formidable competitor to Google Shopping and Pinterest in the rapidly expanding AI-powered fashion discovery space.
