Nvidia to Invest $1.5B in Israel’s Largest Server Farm
Tech giant Nvidia, the world’s leading AI chipmaker, is set to invest an estimated $1.5 billion in a colossal new server farm in Israel. This marks the largest facility the company has ever constructed outside the United States.
As reported by Israeli financial news source Calcalist, Nvidia is in the final stages of negotiations to lease a data center currently being built in the Mevo Carmel industrial zone near Yokneam. This project is managed by real estate firm Mega Or DC. The new facility will cover an area of approximately 30,000 square meters and will consume around 64 megawatts of electricity. This makes it one of the most energy-intensive data centers in Israel, consuming more than double the power of Nvidia’s existing Israel-1 supercomputing center.
Upon completion, the Mevo Carmel site is projected to become Nvidia’s largest laboratory and supercomputing center outside the U.S. It will also be one of the largest data centers in the entire Middle East. Nvidia’s plans include the installation of a new supercomputer at the site, which will surpass the capabilities of Israel-1, previously ranked among the world’s top 50 supercomputers. The new system will primarily serve for internal testing and validation of future GPU architectures, including Nvidia’s upcoming Blackwell processors.
This investment further establishes Israel as Nvidia’s second-largest R&D hub outside the U.S., where the company already employs over 5,000 people. It also highlights the intense global competition to secure AI infrastructure as the demand for advanced computing continues to rise.
