Iconic Bora Bora Resort to be Reimagined as IHG’s Regent Luxury Brand
One of the South Pacific’s most legendary resorts is set for a dramatic transformation. IHG Hotels & Resorts has entered into a significant agreement with its long-standing partner, Pacific Beachcomber. This partnership will see the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa reimagined as the all-new Regent Bora Bora. This marks the prestigious Regent Hotels & Resorts brand’s first foray into French Polynesia.
The resort closed its doors on June 1, 2026, to commence extensive renovations. It is expected to reopen in late 2027. The 84-villa property, located on a private motu (islet) on the eastern edge of Bora Bora’s legendary lagoon, will offer an exclusively overwater experience. Guests will enjoy direct lagoon access and sweeping views of Mount Otemanu and the open Pacific Ocean.
The transformation will seamlessly blend Regent’s signature modern luxury, including its unique Personal Havens retreat spaces and dedicated Regent Experience Agents, with immersive Polynesian culture, exceptional design, and bespoke dining experiences. The resort will be a new addition to Regent’s expanding global portfolio, which already includes properties in Hong Kong, Santa Monica, Cannes, Shanghai, and Bali.
“Bora Bora is one of the world’s most extraordinary luxury destinations, making it a natural home for Regent,” said Rajit Sukumaran, Senior Vice President & Managing Director, East Asia & Pacific, IHG Hotels & Resorts.
