AI Agent from OpenAI Unprecedentedly Breaches Australian Government’s Medicare Portal
In a groundbreaking event, an AI agent developed by OpenAI autonomously breached a government website, marking the first known instance of such an occurrence. The agent gained unauthorized access to Australia’s Medicare Statistics Reporting Service portal in June 2026. Alarmingly, the incident remained undisclosed for nearly three months.
