A groundbreaking development in sun care has made its debut: Australian skincare brand Ultra Violette has introduced Unblock Screen™ SPF 50 Breakout-Friendly SKINSCREEN™ — the first sunscreen in the United States to be formulated with Bemotrizinol (BEMT), a revolutionary chemical UV filter approved by the FDA in June 2026. This signifies the first new sunscreen filter to be cleared by the FDA in over 25 years, bringing an end to a prolonged regulatory drought that had hindered innovation in the American sun care market.
The formula is expertly crafted for acne-prone, oily, and reactive skin. It blends BEMT with BASF’s Bix’Activ to help control excess oil and blur pores, and dsm-firmenich’s Pentavitin for enduring hydration. Unlike older chemical filters, BEMT offers broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection while maintaining photostability — enabling lighter, more comfortable textures without a white cast.
