Hut 8’s Stock Skyrockets Amid Anthropic’s $35B AI Mega-Deal
Former Bitcoin miner Hut 8 Corp. (NASDAQ: HUT) has emerged as a hot topic on Wall Street. The company’s stock has seen a surge of more than 10% in recent trading sessions. This surge is largely attributed to its central role in one of the largest AI computing deals in history.
Anthropic, the AI safety company responsible for the Claude AI assistant, has inked a $35 billion cloud computing agreement with Lambda. Lambda, an AI cloud provider backed by Nvidia, will source computing capacity partly from Hut 8’s Beacon Point campus located in Nueces County, Texas.
The 350-megawatt facility, currently under development by Hut 8, is leased by Nvidia. It is powered by Lambda’s infrastructure and is set to cater to Anthropic’s extensive AI workload demands. This deal builds upon Hut 8’s previous 15-year, $7 billion lease with Fluidstack, which covers approximately 245 megawatts of capacity.
This arrangement highlights a growing trend where Bitcoin miners are transitioning into AI data center landlords. These miners, who have spent years establishing power-dense campuses with reliable grid connections, are now repurposing their infrastructure. As of early 2026, public miners have signed AI and high-performance-computing deals worth more than $70 billion. Hut 8’s CEO, Asher Genoot, revealed that the company has 11 publicly disclosed projects in its pipeline, with several more in advanced stages. This has resulted in HUT shares rallying from the mid-$70s to above $100 in recent weeks.
