Preorders Open for Apple’s Groundbreaking Foldable iPhone Duo, Priced at $1,999

Generating a buzz across the tech world, Apple’s most ambitious product launch in years is now live. Preorders for the iPhone Duo — Apple’s first-ever foldable smartphone — opened on October 16, 2026, with the official retail launch set for October 23, 2026.

Unveiled on September 9, 2026, by Apple’s new CEO, John Ternus, the iPhone Duo boasts a book-style titanium frame. A compact 5.4-inch external display unfolds to reveal a spacious 7.6-inch Retina OLED inner screen, comparable in size to an iPad Mini. The device is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip, which is reportedly 20% faster than its predecessor. Standout features include a hidden under-display FaceTime camera, a Touch ID side button, and up to 44 hours of video playback. Notably, the iPhone Duo is the first iPhone to support the Apple Pencil (USB-C), although this feature won’t be available at launch.

Priced at $1,999 for the 256GB model, the iPhone Duo positions Apple firmly within the premium foldable market, competing directly with Huawei and Samsung. Alongside the Duo, Apple also unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro (starting at $1,199) and the Watch Series 12. While foldable phones currently represent only about 2.2% of global smartphone shipments this year, Apple’s entry is expected to significantly accelerate adoption.
