Kentucky Aviation Hall of Fame Unveils Esteemed Class of 2026
The Kentucky Aviation Hall of Fame has unveiled its esteemed Class of 2026. This year’s induction ceremony, set to honor four trailblazing figures in aviation, is scheduled for October 17, 2026, in Lexington, Kentucky.
The inductees for this year are an inspiring mix of individuals. Kaye Combs Moore, a lifelong aviator and advocate for women in aviation, has over six decades of service and mentorship. Her notable achievements include participation in the 1977 Commemorative Powder Puff Derby and the prestigious FAA Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award in 2021. Moore is a committed member of the Ninety-Nines, an international organization of women pilots co-founded by Amelia Earhart.
Charles Francis Knapp, a pioneer in aerospace and biomedical engineering, has made significant contributions to the safety of pilots and astronauts. Captain Bee Rife Osborne, a World War I test pilot, made history as the first person to fly an American-built aircraft in France while serving with the Kentucky National Guard.
The Hammond family — Bill, Clay, and Nathan Hammond — will be honored with the Kentucky Aviation Achievement Award for their multi-generational commitment to aviation education, preservation, and airshow performance.
