Anthropic Shatters Records with $11.5B Quarter, Setting Stage for Potential IPO

Anthropic, the trailblazing AI safety company responsible for the Claude family of models, has exceeded all expectations. The company reported a preliminary Q2 2026 revenue of $11.5 billion. This figure represents a staggering 14-fold increase from the $787 million reported in Q2 2025, marking the company’s first-ever quarter of positive adjusted operating income.

The disclosed figures, released ahead of a potential IPO, establish Anthropic as the fastest-growing major AI company in history, based on revenue trajectory. The company’s Q1 2026 revenue was $4.73 billion, indicating that Anthropic more than doubled its top line sequentially in just three months. By July 2026, the annualized run-rate revenue reached a whopping $74 billion, surpassing OpenAI’s $41 billion annualized rate.

The primary growth drivers for this impressive performance are Claude’s enterprise API and Claude Code, the company’s AI coding assistant. Claude Code alone generates $2.5 billion in annualized revenue, a remarkable achievement for a product that was non-existent 18 months ago. Currently, Claude Code dominates 54% of the coding AI market and contributes to approximately 4% of all public GitHub commits.

Anthropic is planning a fall 2026 IPO with Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, and JPMorgan Chase. Private market discussions suggest valuations ranging between $965 billion and $2.3 trillion. Amazon, which holds an equity stake in Anthropic, has seen an unrealized gain from the company’s strong performance reflected in its own quarterly earnings.

The company’s success puts it in stark contrast with rival OpenAI, which recently reported approximately $39 billion in losses for 2025.
