Google Strikes Back: The Launch of Gemini 3.8 Flash and a Major Antitrust Victory

After enduring its longest monthly losing streak on Wall Street in more than a decade, Google (Alphabet) is entering September 2026 with a wave of positive developments. These developments have not only lifted investor confidence but also signaled a potential AI comeback.

The tech giant launched Gemini 3.8 Flash — its third Flash model in just six weeks. This model is positioned as the most advanced reasoning and coding model to date. Alongside it, Google unveiled a new AI cybersecurity model aimed at trusted government and enterprise clients. The model is priced competitively at 75 cents per million input tokens. This dual launch underscores Google’s strategy to compete aggressively with rivals such as Anthropic and OpenAI on both performance and price.

The momentum didn’t stop there. A federal judge rejected the U.S. Department of Justice’s bid to force Google to sell its AdX ad exchange. This handed the company a major antitrust victory. Meanwhile, Berkshire Hathaway CEO Greg Abel publicly endorsed Alphabet’s AI strategy. He cited growing interest among portfolio companies that depend on Google’s technology. Google Cloud is already seeing results: nearly 75% of its customers are actively using AI products. These customers are spending about 50% more than their original commitments. This is a tangible sign that Google’s AI investments are translating into revenue.
