Thailand Launches Month-Long Grand Diwali Festival Across Three Cities

Thailand officially launched the Amazing Thailand Grand Diwali Festival 2026 on October 29 at the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) headquarters in Bangkok. Believed to be one of the world’s longest Diwali celebrations, the festival runs from November 3 to 29, 2026, with seven major events across three provinces:

  • Bangkok
  • Chonburi (Pattaya)
  • Phuket

Entry is free at every venue. The festival is organised by the Indian Association of Thailand (IAT), the Thai–India Trade & Tourism Association (TITTA), TAT, the Embassy of India in Bangkok, and prominent venues and partners, including ICONSIAM, EMQUARTIER, and Central Group shopping centres.

The celebration aims to position Thailand alongside global Diwali destinations such as London, New York, Singapore, Sydney, and Dubai. Highlights include:

  • November 6–8: An illuminated giant lotus installation along the Chao Phraya River at ICONSIAM.
  • November 20–24: Threads of Faith, an event in Bangkok’s historic Little India district of Phahurat.

The November 24 event coincides with Loy Krathong, Dev Deepavali, and Gurpurab—a rare convergence of three cultural and religious observances on the same full moon night.

India remains one of Thailand’s most important tourism source markets, contributing nearly 1.9 million visitor arrivals between January 1 and October 26, 2026. The festival also takes place ahead of the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and India in 2027.
