Airbnb Credits AI for Record $3.6B Q2 Revenue in 2026

Airbnb (NASDAQ: ABNB) has reported a record-breaking second quarter for 2026, with a revenue of $3.6 billion. This represents a 17% increase year-over-year. The company attributes this significant growth to the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI). During the company’s earnings call on August 6, CEO Brian Chesky stated that AI has revolutionized the platform’s operations, reducing the time from concept to product launch by up to 60%. Additionally, the number of features launched in the first half of 2026 increased by nearly 80% compared to the same period in the previous year.

The company’s AI assistant now independently resolves nearly 45% of customer support issues, leading to a reduction in customer support costs per booking by approximately 16% year-over-year. In other growth metrics, first-time booker growth accelerated to 11% — the highest rate in four years. The Gen Z demographic emerged as the fastest-growing group. Hotel nights booked on the platform grew approximately three times faster than home bookings, with over a third of first-time hotel guests later booking a home listing.

In its 2026 Summer Release, Airbnb launched AI tools that generate highlights from host listing descriptions and guest reviews. These tools assist travelers in quickly identifying the aspects most important to them. Airbnb has increased its full-year 2026 revenue growth outlook to at least mid-teens, with an adjusted EBITDA margin of at least 35.5%. Following this announcement, shares surged by approximately 9–15%.
