Redbird Unveils G1000 NXi Upgrade, Elevating Flight Simulation Realism
AUSTIN, TX — August 5, 2026 — Flight training is poised for a significant transformation. Redbird Flight Simulations is launching a cutting-edge software update for its widely-used aviation training devices (ATDs), featuring a fully emulated Garmin G1000 NXi avionics suite. This development is creating a buzz in the flight training community.
Slated for official release on August 17, 2026, the innovative NXi software was developed from scratch. It offers enhanced graphics, quicker processing speeds, and a range of advanced features that instructors have been eagerly awaiting. These include:
- Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT)
- HSI mapping on the primary flight display
- Garmin’s SafeTaxi airport diagram system
These are the same tools student pilots will encounter in real Cessna 172, 182, and 206 cockpits.
Accompanying the software is the forthcoming E001 Enhanced Aircraft panel, a modular, interchangeable hardware controller expected to debut in early 2027. It supports both Garmin and Avidyne avionics configurations. Importantly, all new hardware is backward compatible with existing Redbird devices, safeguarding previous investments made by flight schools.
“Flight training providers continue to express a desire for highly realistic training devices that emulate exactly what their customers will experience in their aircraft fleet,” stated Redbird CEO Charlie Gregoire. Existing ATD customers under warranty or valid service agreements can download the NXi update at no additional charge on August 17.
Redbird unveiled the NXi software and an E001 prototype at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026, booth #301, along with a prototype yoke for Cirrus SR20 and SR22 configurations.
