Legend of the Seas: Royal Caribbean’s Iconic Megaship Rules the Mediterranean

Royal Caribbean’s boldest new megaship, Legend of the Seas, has officially set sail, making waves across Europe. The third entry in the cruise line’s record-setting Icon Class embarked on its inaugural voyage from Rome (Civitavecchia) on July 4, 2026. This marked the beginning of a season filled with seven-night Western Mediterranean adventures, featuring stops in Naples, Barcelona, and Marseille.

Stretching a staggering 1,196 feet in length and capable of accommodating a whopping 5,610 guests at normal capacity, Legend of the Seas stands as one of the largest cruise ships ever built. This voyage marks the first time an Icon Class vessel has sailed regular itineraries in the Mediterranean — a significant milestone for the industry. Royal Caribbean’s President and CEO, Michael Bayley, hailed it as “our most legendary vacation yet.”

Onboard, guests can look forward to an array of highlights, including:

  • 28 dining options
  • A Category 6 waterpark with six waterslides
  • The immersive Royal Railway – Legend Station experience
  • A Hollywoodland Supper Club
  • The world’s first “America’s Got Talent” variety show held at sea

A new Korean dining concept, Seoulmate, also makes its debut. After its European summer season, the ship will reposition to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in late October for Caribbean sailings.
