Saudi Arabia Leverages AI to Revolutionize Global Tourism
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Tourism has embarked on an ambitious journey with the launch of its AI Tourism Vision. This comprehensive strategy aims to incorporate artificial intelligence into every aspect of its travel and hospitality industry. Unveiled during the Kingdom’s Year of Artificial Intelligence 2026, the initiative introduces innovative tools such as the TourismX platform, the Saudi MT App, and an AI assistant, Noura.
The TourismX platform equips hotels, restaurants, tour operators, and destination managers with free AI-powered tools. These include automated hotel design assistance, standard operating procedure generation, and AI-crafted tour scripts, all designed to elevate service quality and boost tourism productivity. The MT Developer Portal further empowers tech partners and startups to create scalable digital solutions that seamlessly integrate into the national tourism ecosystem.
This strategy is in line with Saudi Vision 2030, which positions tourism as a key pillar of the Kingdom’s economic diversification plan. Ahmed Al-Khateeb, the Tourism Minister, highlighted that artificial intelligence is “reshaping how we discover destinations, design experiences, and manage tourism services.” With connections to 66 countries and 176 destinations through its international airports, Saudi Arabia anticipates that AI-enabled platforms will significantly enhance direct booking conversion rates and visitor personalization. This strategic move places the Kingdom at the forefront, surpassing the UAE, China, Singapore, and the United States in establishing a unified, government-backed AI tourism architecture.
