DC-3 Society Announces Historic Conference at Flabob Airport
Aviation history enthusiasts and working operators of one of the most iconic aircraft ever built have a major event to look forward to this winter. The DC-3 Society has officially announced its inaugural Operator Conference & Showcase, scheduled for December 4–6, 2026, at historic Flabob Airport (KRIR) in Riverside, California — one of the oldest continuously operating airports in the United States.
The three-day gathering is designed as a first-of-its-kind professional forum dedicated entirely to the operational legacy and future stewardship of the legendary Douglas DC-3 and C-47. It will bring together:
- Operators
- Maintainers
- Pilots
- Owners
- Educators
- Industry partners
- Aviation enthusiasts
For knowledge sharing, maintenance best practices, airworthiness discussions, and live aircraft displays.
The DC-3 Society — the first type society dedicated exclusively to the DC-3 — provides type-specific guidance to help keep these wartime icons airworthy. “While this event celebrates one of the most iconic aircraft in history, it is equally about preserving the knowledge, craftsmanship, and passion that keep these aircraft flying,” said Jon Goldenbaum, Trustee Chairman of the Tom Wathen Center at Flabob Airport. The event follows D-Day commemorations honoring the generation of pilots and crew who depended on the DC-3 and C-47 during World War II and beyond.
