Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Concludes South Korea Tour with Significant AI Partnerships
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang wrapped up a significant five-day visit to South Korea on Tuesday, June 9. Huang secured a comprehensive set of AI partnerships, further establishing the country’s pivotal role in the global artificial intelligence supply chain.
Among the key agreements was a multi-year technology partnership with SK Group. Under this partnership, SK Hynix — Nvidia’s primary memory supplier — will collaborate on the development of next-generation memory chips. These chips will be used across four Nvidia computing platforms, including AI infrastructure, personal AI, and physical AI. Additionally, SK Telecom plans to construct a gigawatt-scale AI Cloud in South Korea, leveraging Nvidia’s DSX platform. The inaugural AI data center is slated for launch in 2027.
During his visit, Huang also engaged with executives from LG Group, Hyundai Motor Group, Naver, and Doosan. He hosted a Korea AI Ecosystem Reception, attended by representatives from 18 companies, including Samsung Electronics and Krafton. Naver unveiled plans to augment its GAK Sejong AI data center from 55 megawatts to gigawatt scale, utilizing Nvidia technology. South Korea’s Science Minister Bae Kyung-hoon also had a separate meeting with Huang to discuss the delivery of approximately 260,000 advanced Nvidia GPUs and the potential establishment of an Nvidia R&D center in Seoul.
Upon his departure from Gimpo International Airport, Huang characterized the trip as “very successful,” and identified robotics as the upcoming major growth sector for South Korea.
