Etihad Airways Amplifies US Network: Doubles Chicago Flights and Enhances Charlotte Service
Etihad Airways is set to significantly expand its United States network with a major capacity increase. The airline has announced double-daily flights to Chicago O’Hare International Airport and an upgrade to daily service for Charlotte from June 15, 2026. This move strengthens connectivity between North America and high-growth markets across India and Asia-Pacific.
The Abu Dhabi-based carrier will increase flights between Abu Dhabi and Chicago to twice daily from June 15. In addition, its recently launched Charlotte route will be upgraded from four weekly services to daily operations through September 8, 2026. This expansion comes less than three months after Etihad began flying to Charlotte on March 20, marking one of the fastest capacity increases in the airline’s network.
“Chicago continues to be a cornerstone of our U.S. network,” said Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad Airways. “Moving to double-daily flights reflects the sustained performance of the route and enables us to offer guests greater flexibility while deepening connectivity through Abu Dhabi, strengthening links to key markets across India and Asia-Pacific.”
Both routes will be operated using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, configured with 32 business class and 271 economy seats. The enhanced schedule will improve connectivity to multiple Indian cities and regional hubs:
- Indian Cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai
- Regional Hubs: Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Manila
The move reflects strong demand from both point-to-point and connecting passengers. This expansion joins the ranks of Qatar Airways, Emirates, Turkish Airlines, and Lufthansa in expanding U.S. flight frequencies, driving a major tourism boom for Chicago and Charlotte.
