FAA Approves Mammoth’s 777-200 Freighter Conversion: A Milestone Achievement
Mammoth Freighters achieved a significant milestone on April 8, 2026, receiving Federal Aviation Administration certification for its 777-200LRMF (Long Range Mammoth Freighter) passenger-to-freighter conversion. This approval not only clears the aircraft for commercial cargo service but also marks a major advancement in the company’s widebody freighter program.
The certification is a testament to years of diligent engineering work and strategically positions Mammoth to commence deliveries to its launch customer, Jetran. Jetran will subsequently place the aircraft with Qatar Airways Cargo. The 777-200LRMF stands out with the largest main-deck cargo door in its class, a reinforced floor structure, and advanced cargo handling systems optimized for long-haul operations.
“This certification reflects years of disciplined engineering and close collaboration with the FAA,” said Bill Tarpley, CEO of Mammoth Freighters.
Additional customers, including DHL and Ethiopian Airlines, are scheduled to receive the converted freighters. Mammoth anticipates FAA certification for its larger 777-300ERMF variant later in 2026.
