Microsoft Amplifies Security Copilot with 11 Innovative AI Agents
Microsoft is set to enhance its Security Copilot platform with the introduction of 11 new AI-powered security agents. These agents are designed to automate repetitive cybersecurity tasks, thereby reducing analyst burnout. The newly added agents boast specialized tools for phishing triage, alert management, vulnerability remediation, and threat intelligence briefing.
The expansion is a strategic response to a critical industry challenge. Security teams are currently spending approximately three hours daily responding to alerts, with some teams handling over 4,400 alerts daily. The AI agents are designed to autonomously handle high-volume security tasks. These tasks include email threat assessment, data loss prevention alerts, and conditional access optimization.
Microsoft’s latest move is a testament to the growing trend among major cybersecurity vendors to integrate autonomous AI directly into security operations. This is particularly crucial as the industry grapples with a shortage of qualified professionals. In fact, the U.S. only has enough cyber professionals to fill 83% of available positions.
The new agents are scheduled to enter preview in April 2025. The enhanced multicloud AI security posture management will extend to Google VertexAI and Amazon Web Services.
