Daher’s Revolutionary TBM 980: A New Era in Cockpit Technology
On January 15, 2026, French aircraft manufacturer Daher made waves in the aviation industry with the introduction of the TBM 980. This marks the sixth aircraft in the TBM 900 series since Daher acquired the product line in 2014. The standout feature of the new single-engine turboprop is the third-generation G3000 PRIME avionics system from Garmin. With its three 14-inch edge-to-edge touchscreen displays, this system is set to revolutionize pilot-aircraft interaction.
The TBM 980 retains the reliable Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6E-66XT turboprop engine, paired with a five-blade Hartzell composite propeller. The aircraft has already received certification from both the EASA and the FAA. Deliveries are set to begin this month, with the aircraft priced at $5.82 million.
Notable cabin enhancements include 100-watt USB-C power ports and provisions for Starlink Mini satellite internet connectivity, ensuring passengers stay connected and powered up during their flights.
Nicolas Chabbert, CEO of Daher Aircraft, proudly stated, “Our TBM 980’s motto, ‘Fly Differently,’ is more than just a slogan. This aircraft redefines the way that pilots and their passengers want to fly.” The TBM 980 was unveiled at Daher’s production facility in Tarbes, France. The event was livestreamed to a worldwide audience. As of December 31, 2025, Daher has delivered 1,294 TBM aircraft worldwide.
