Former Apple COO Jeff Williams Nominated for Disney Board Expansion
The Walt Disney Company has nominated Jeff Williams, former Apple Chief Operating Officer, to join its board of directors at the 2026 annual shareholders’ meeting. Williams retired from Apple earlier this year after a remarkable 27-year tenure with the tech giant, where he played a pivotal role in overseeing global operations, managing the supply chain, and leading the development of the iconic Apple Watch.
If approved by shareholders, Williams will expand Disney’s board from 10 to 11 members. This nomination brings significant tech expertise to the entertainment company, aligning with its focus on innovation and creative storytelling.
During his tenure at Apple, Williams was instrumental in launching the Apple Watch and developing the company’s health and fitness strategy. “Jeff’s proven leadership and unique experience at the intersection of technology, global operations and product design make him a valuable nominee to our board,” said Disney Chairman James P. Gorman.
Williams expressed enthusiasm about joining Disney, stating he has “long admired Disney’s legacy of pairing imagination with innovation.” The board expansion comes as Disney prepares to announce CEO Bob Iger’s successor in early 2026.
Williams joins other tech executives on Disney’s board, including former Instacart president Carolyn Everson.
