Anker Initiates Massive Recall of 1.1 Million Power Banks Due to Fire Hazards
Anker Innovations has recently announced a significant safety recall of over 1.1 million power banks due to risks associated with lithium-ion battery overheating. This could potentially lead to fires and burn injuries. The recall affects multiple models, including A1647, A1652, A1257, A1681, and A1689.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has reported 19 incidents of fires and explosions related to these devices, which include two minor burn injuries and over $60,700 in property damage. Alarmingly, the defective batteries can overheat even when not in use, posing serious safety hazards.
Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the affected devices. They can visit Anker’s recall page to verify their product’s serial number. As a remedy, the company is offering full cash refunds or gift cards. This incident marks the latest in a series of Anker power bank recalls throughout 2025.
