Royal Caribbean Battles Norovirus Outbreak Impacting Nearly 100 Individuals
A norovirus outbreak on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship has resulted in the illness of almost 100 people, as reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The CDC has disclosed that 94 passengers and 4 crew members have “reported being ill during the voyage,” with the primary symptoms being diarrhea and vomiting.
In an effort to combat the outbreak, Royal Caribbean has initiated enhanced cleaning measures. This includes the amplification of cleaning and disinfection procedures throughout the affected vessel.
This incident underscores the persistent health challenges that the cruise industry faces as it strives to maintain passenger wellness aboard ships. The cruise line has been collaborating closely with health authorities to contain the outbreak and ensure passenger safety.
Norovirus outbreaks are not uncommon on cruise ships due to the close quarters and shared facilities. However, cruise lines have developed comprehensive protocols to address such situations promptly.
