Skyfly Targets Luxury Yacht Owners with Axe eVTOL Ahead of U.S. Market Expansion

UK-based eVTOL startup Skyfly is strategically targeting the affluent American demographic with its innovative two-seat Axe Vertically Capable Aircraft (eVCA). The company has announced plans to unveil the Axe at the esteemed Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS), which runs from October 28 to November 1, 2026. This showcase marks the commencement of a series of U.S. events aimed at establishing brand presence in anticipation of planned deliveries in 2027.

The Axe is a stylish, two-seat electric aircraft equipped with vertical takeoff and landing capabilities. It is powered by eight electric motors that generate up to 280 kW (375 hp). The aircraft boasts a fully electric range of 100 miles, which can be extended to 300 miles in its hybrid configuration. Its safety features include a 9:1 glide ratio, mechanical backup flight controls, and an integrated ballistic parachute system.

Skyfly is capitalizing on the FAA’s new MOSAIC (Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification) rules, which came into full effect for manufacturers on July 24, 2026. These rules permit the Axe to be certified as a Light Sport Aircraft, allowing it to be operated by holders of a basic Sport Pilot Certificate. The company has already sold approximately 40 units and plans to assemble the production version of the Axe by late 2026.
