October Sees a Rise in Affordable European Getaways with Dublin, Madrid, and Paris Leading the Charge

UK holidaymakers are capitalizing on affordable autumn getaways this October. The top destinations, according to a new budget travel comparison published on 10 October 2026, include Dublin, Madrid, Paris, Faro, Milan, and Tenerife. The report underscores a robust travel demand from regional UK airports such as Cardiff, Bristol, and Birmingham, with fares starting from a mere £28 for select routes.

October is turning out to be an ideal time for European city breaks. The shoulder-season pricing translates into fewer crowds, more competitive hotel rates, and comfortable temperatures across most destinations. Data from Skyscanner reveals that there are 95 flights per week between Dublin and Madrid alone, serviced by airlines including Ryanair, Aer Lingus, and Iberia. One-way fares from Dublin to Madrid are currently as low as £23 with Ryanair on select dates. Paris and Tenerife are similarly accessible from major UK regional hubs.

The travel industry is also brimming with confidence. A recent GBTA poll of 604 travel industry professionals revealed that 63% are optimistic about the upcoming 12 months. This is a significant increase from just 41% in April 2026. Furthermore, 56% of travel buyers anticipate a rise in spending. For travellers looking to maximize their budget this autumn, Europe’s classic city destinations are offering some of the most enticing value seen all year.
