American Airlines and STARLUX Initiate Trans-Pacific Codeshare Partnership

As of September 30, 2026, American Airlines and Taiwan’s STARLUX Airlines have officially initiated their new codeshare agreement. This partnership provides seamless travel options between the Western United States and Taipei (TPE). The agreement enables travelers to book STARLUX-operated flights directly through American’s website and mobile app. The routes include Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), Seattle (SEA), and Ontario, California (ONT). A route from Phoenix (PHX) is also in the pipeline, awaiting regulatory approval.

AAdvantage members can now earn miles and Loyalty Points when booking eligible American-coded flights operated by STARLUX. This is a significant advantage for frequent flyers planning trips to Asia. The partnership also allows passengers connecting through Taipei to reach other STARLUX destinations across Asia on a single ticket, with baggage checked through.

STARLUX, recently named one of the 20 best airlines in the world in 2026 by Skytrax, is renowned for its boutique luxury cabins. These include lie-flat Business Class suites with privacy doors and Premium Economy seats with retractable footrests. The airlines are already planning a future mileage redemption agreement. “Taipei remains a top destination for global business, visiting friends and family, and leisure travel,” stated Anmol Bhargava, American’s SVP of Alliances.
