Microsoft Unveils Copilot ‘Super App’ to Compete with Anthropic and OpenAI

Microsoft has officially launched its much-awaited Copilot ‘Super App’, an extensive consolidation of its AI tools into one comprehensive platform, primarily targeting enterprise customers. The launch, which took place on September 25, 2026, was presented by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella at the company’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington. He was accompanied by Copilot EVP Jacob Andreou and EVP of Copilot, agents, and platform Charles Lamanna.

The innovative Copilot app amalgamates chat, AI-assisted coding, a Cowork collaboration suite, and a potent new Autopilot feature. This feature allows the AI to independently handle complex tasks without requiring constant human intervention. The platform merges capabilities that were previously scattered across various Microsoft consumer and business apps. The result is a single destination for AI-powered work, as described by the company.

This strategic move is Microsoft’s answer to the escalating competition from Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Both competitors have been assertively broadening their enterprise offerings. Microsoft is banking on its extensive experience in workplace software, including Microsoft 365 and Azure, to provide it with a unique edge in integrating AI into everyday business workflows on a large scale. Nadella had hinted at the Super App’s introduction during the company’s earnings call on July 29, assuring a release before Q3 2026 ended. Following the announcement, Microsoft’s MSFT stock saw a 3.34% increase.
